My dog has allergies help!?

Ok, my dog bites herself all day til she starts bleeding, and she has almost no fur where she bites herself and will smell so bad, even after a day of giving her a bath. so i took her to the vet and the vet said she had allergies and just to give her benadryl, she still does it and i cant keep doping my dog up, what should i do?
