Is it haram to spike your hair?

I got a haircut yesterday (the usual). And one of my friends said during French class it's haram to spike your hair...I don't put any designs, or any Mohawks or Mohawks, and not a full head spike.I just put a simple spike in front of my hair. And I really like it.I don't spike my hair all the time , just a couple times here and there.
